How I Met My Hubby - Part 1

I don't think I ever explained to you avid followers how my husband and I met. It's quite the adventure, and since Hannah just downed 7 ounces in about 20 minutes (you'd think we never fed her!) and she's currently sitting contentedly in her bassinet, I thought I'd write it down while I have the chance. Now, this is kind of a long post, but hopefully it's still entertaining. :)

Back in 2009, my best friend and long-time roommate, BreAnne, got married and I moved into my own apartment.

Exhibit A:

I'll bet you can't remember the last time you saw a TV like that, huh :) And believe me, it was HEAVY. Just ask my mom and step-dad who helped me move in.

Exhibit B:

Did I mention that my apartment was in the far back corner of the third story? That's what my mother's face is telling you right there. And I surely hope I will not be killed in my sleep for posting that picture. Much like I hope I will not be killed in my sleep for posting this picture:

But that's what best friends do, BreAnne. We live on the edge. :)

Okay, where was I? Oh, yeah. This post has to do with my husband, I SWEAR. I'm merely setting the stage/documenting my life for the world to see.

My new apartment had a flaw -- it had no internet connection. Months went by, and I got along just fine without it. But that was until my mom suggested that I try internet dating again.

You see, I'd tried internet dating before, and I dated a couple doozies. Weirdies. I wasn't eager to try it again, let's just say that :) Buuuut, I was bored. And I really wanted to date someone fun. Someone normal. Someone I could marry.

So I drove to the super-scary-totally-shady laundry mat by my place of employment and mooched off of their free WiFi. But there was a problem. . .  Free WiFi and dating sites are not friends. I couldn't access any sites to create a profile, so I decided it was just not meant to be. I drove home and stuffed my face with a pint of Chubby Hubby instead. {hahaha! Just kidding!}

Well, the very next day, a neighbor from the bottom floor came knocking at my door looking for a girl who hadn't lived there in months (obviously). He was wondering why she wasn't paying her share of the internet bill. I asked for a bit more detail, and found out that this apartment of high-quality males charged something like $5.00 a month for the password to their WiFi. Awesome. Sign me up, yo.

Later that day, I signed up for 'eHarmony', but ended up signing up for 'match.com' as well because I happened to see an advertisement at the last minute. I needed to double my odds in order to find a fellow that would date me, you see. ;)

After creating my profile, I did some searching (of course) on Match.com, and found this profile:

"Hey there! So I take it that there is something about me that must have sparked your interest a little. Otherwise, why would you be reading this? Questions to ponder!!! Well anyways, you must be wondering what I'm all about, so let me give you a little rundown.

"I really enjoy a laugh. I mean, who doesn't? I have a pretty goofy personality, but not overbearingly goofy. You know, not goofy to the point of absolute public embarrassment or humiliation. But I've been known to be good for a laugh or two. To compliment my humorous side, I also have a serious and responsible side. When it comes to taking responsibility and making things happen, I am sure to get the job done. I'm a very assertive and analytical person. I'm the type of person that doesn't run from a challenge. In fact, I always look forward to one, because it's only through those challenges that you can really find out what your true potential is and really see what you're made of.

"As stated in another part of my profile, I am LDS and have a great respect and love for the Gospel. I may be a little rough around the edges, but I can never deny my belief in God nor His Church, and it's teachings. I served my mission in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil. I returned with honor on the 4th of June, 2003. I continue active in the church today, and don't plan on changing that status any time soon (or any time in the long haul for that matter). I look forward to finding my eternal companion and taking her to the temple and starting a family of our own.

"If you’re worried that I may be judgmental, wipe that thought from your brain. I consider myself no better than anyone else, and feel that no one should consider themselves better than another by any means. Despite my being an active member in the LDS church, I'd have to say that about 85% of my good friends are either Non-Active LDS or just have nothing to do with the church. I don't consider that a bad thing. It's been that way my whole life. I am an open-minded person with much love and respect for everyone.

"I would really like to meet women who have high standards, morals, and values, but are not self-righteous, and superficial. If there is one thing I can't stand, it's a person who pretends to be someone they are not. I'm not looking for super-woman here. Just someone who is down to earth, and honest. Someone willing to work together, who is selfless, and truthful with their self, and others. Being empathetic, and understanding is of great importance to me, too! I am a very forgiving person, and expect the same of those whom I associate myself with.

"I consider physical attraction to be pretty important. Don't take me the wrong way. I'm not looking for a super model. But the chemistry has to be there! Please, if you feel like contacting me, I would really prefer to see a picture of who I'm talking to.

"So, now that that's out of the way, let's hear about you!!!

for fun:
Ok, here's me in a nutshell! Many of my interests revolve around motorsports. I'm a major car enthusiast, and do quite a bit of racing at the track. Other interests include camping, fishing, leisure drives, walking, and spending time with loved ones
my job:
I work for a company called Hexcel. We primarily produce composite materials for the aerospace industry, as well as some other areas in which the materials are used. I have advanced to the position of "Process Specialist Lead", aka "Babysitter"! LOL!
my religion:
I have a strong background in the LDS church. I returned from my mission in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil on June 4, 2003. They were great times, and I look forward to even better times with my future significant other.
my education:
I'm currently torn on what it is I would like to go to school for, but would prefer a technical field of some sort. Trying to decide between electronics or mechanical-engineering.
favorite hot spots:
I'd love to go sight-seeing. There are a lot of places I've always wanted to see, but haven't been yet, for example, The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, ghost towns, and other such places. I would really like someone (significant other) to enjoy it with.
favorite things:
My favorite food is hoagie sandwiches (subway), I like bright colors (yellow and orange match my personality), Speedshops are like a candy store to me, I enjoy reading magazines, listen to many types of music (mostly country), and love comedies.
last read:
I do most of my reading on the internet! Strangely enough, much (most) of it is associated with the aforementioned hobbies! I also read LOADS of tech. articles from which I can learn. I enjoy physics, and read as much about it as I can.

All that paired with all this:

I just have to say that I think my hubs has gorgeous eyes :)

And I was aaallll about sending him a message.
