You Might Be A Mom If. . .

Although I'm still really quite new at this whole "mom" thing, there are a few things that I think stretch across the great divide of motherhood regardless of the number of curtain climbers you have in your family. . .

You might be a mom if :

- you can tell the difference between a playful grunt and a "I'm-cookin'-up-a-surprise-for-you,-mom,-just-because-I-love-you" grunt.

- you can find enough leftover Banana Puffs, crackers, and string cheese to make a meal in your purse at any given time.

- you can cook dinner, cut your husband's hair, clean the house, and feed the dog one-handed.

- you have moments when you want nothing more than to stand there and watch your sleeping angel at night.

{March 2012}

- you want to kiss said sleeping angel and hug her to pieces, but you're far too smart for that.

- you rarely have the strength and self-control to walk past baby clothes in the store without stopping and browsing {and wishing you could buy them all}.

- thanks to that Achilles's heel, your kid has a bigger and better closet full of cute clothes than you do.

- you can make rice cereal blind folded and using only .5 of a brain cell. In the middle of a tornado. Hanging upside down.

- you can't wait until you can bust out your maternity clothes again. . . much to your husband's chagrin.

- you would gladly make a complete fool of yourself just to see your baby laugh and smile.

- you blow $50 bucks at the grocery store on baby food alone and barely bat an eye.

- you've never felt more elation than when you saw your baby on the ultrasound and heard her heartbeat for the first time.

{19 week ultrasound}

- you spend more time planning your little one's first birthday than any other event thus far in your existence.

- you can differentiate your baby's cry from all the other kids in the church building hallway and know when to bail out of class to rescue said kid.

. . . .

Being a mom really is the best job in the world, and I wouldn't trade it for anything!  It's hard sometimes {a lot of the time}, but it always works out in the end. We women are stronger than we give ourselves credit for; childless, with a house full of kids, or somewhere in the middle. We can do anything we set our mind to! Laugh at the things that frustrate you in your life, and don't dwell on them. Focus on the good things in your situation, and you'll always be happy! :)
